Watching Meteors and The Nation's Tallest Christmas Tree

This last Sunday Dan and I found out about a Meteor shower that was taking place. From what we found out the shower had been going on for a month but it was suppose to be really easy to see that night. We head south toward pahrump to get away from the Vegas Lights. There was suppose to be 100 meteors in 1 hour. We also heard that from China they could see 300 per hour. We saw a lot of them and had a lot of fun eating cookies and drinking hot chocolate. Nothing like spending time with husband!

We also went over to The M Resort and got to see the nation's tallest Christmas tree. It was huge! I had to go this far back to get it all in.

We have had a hard time getting into the Christmas spirit this year since there is no snow in Vegas but after this outing, we started feeling a little better!

UNLV vs. UNR Basketball Game

It is almost Thanksgiving and dan and I are so excited to go up to Utah! We both miss our famalies so much and can't wait to spend time with them. We also get to fly up which we are way excited about too! Driving can be fun but we have done it so much we are kind of sick of the drive up to Utah. To bad Tori (our pet tortoise) can't come with us. Thanks to Marliee, Colby and Clay for watching him! Well before I get a head of myself, we went to the UNLV vs. UNR basketball game. I guess this is a big rivalry with Las Vegas and Reno. We sat with Staci ( one of dan's classmates) and had a lot of fun. The people down the row from us though kept getting beers and it got old having to stand up and down, up and down. I am not talking about getting maybe 2 drinks, it was like 6 drinks per person and 4 people constantly getting them. LOL. Here are some pictures.

The traffic was not moving at all! There were also some idiots who thought it was funny to honk their horn. It didn't feel so good on the ears.

Nellis Air Show

We were able to go to the Nellis Air Show at the Nellis Air Force Base in Las Vegas. We got to see a lot of cool planes and saw the Thunderbirds. They were amazing! I couldn't even believe how close they flew together. Colby, Marilee, Clay, Zach and Tiffany were able to go with us. It was a little windy and cold. Yes, it was cold! Here are some pictures.

What we have been doing

Sorry everyone! I have been really busy and haven't been able to update my blog. There have been a lot of things going on but only a few specials things to report.

• We went to Luke's blessing. This was a very eventful time for my family and I was so glad we were able to go.
  
• Belle's 2nd Birthday! Belle is my neice on my husband's side of the family. We were able to go to her birthday party as it was the same weekend as Luke's blessing. Belle, Emmy and Easton were able to meet Tori our tortoise and fell in love with him. Belle continously asks about him.
  
• Dan's midterms came up this week and he has been really busy. Also, Dan is sick. I think he gets so stressed out about the tests that he becomes more likely to get sick. He did this last time for his finals. I feel so bad for him! Its hard to be sick and try to study when you feel like crap.

All in all, that is pretty much what is going on. My Mom, Dad, Madison and Taylor were able to come down 2 weeks ago and hang out with us. While Dan and my Dad went to the UNLV game, My Mom, Sisters and me went to Ceasar's Palace for a girls night. This was the first time I have gone on the strip since I have moved down to Las Vegas. My New Cutest Little Nephew

My sister Lindsay and her husband Jeff just had a little boy on 07/27/09. They named him Luke Edward Kidder! I got to hold him for the first time when we went up to Utah a week later! It was so hard to wait that long! I kept watching the video that Jeff had sent to me on my phone while I waited. Dan thought it was so funny!

Las Vegas Temple

We went to the Las Vegas temple one sunday. We were really sick and were not able to go to church so we decided to walk on the temple grounds. The temple is so beautiful and looks amazing against the mountains! I can't wait to go inside to see.

Lindsay's Baby Shower

I was lucky enough to be able to fly up to Utah for Lindsay's baby shower. (Thanks mom!) It went really well and I was really glad to see Lindsay. It is so weird to think that next time I see Lindsay and Jeff, the little guy will be born. I know that Jeff and Lindsay will make great parents and I am so excited to be apart of their family. It just stinks that I will be in Las Vegas while he is growing.

Before the shower Madison rubbed Lindsay's feet. Madison is such a nice little sister. She is also getting so big! I can't believe she is 11!

Here is also a really great picture of Lindsay,My Grandma Jones and my mom. I was so glad I was able to come up and spend time with them. Isn't Lindsay just the cutest pregnant lady you have ever seen?!

The Silly Face

Here is my cute little nephew Easton! When we went and visted them in Utah, he learned something new. His "Silly Face". It was cute I couldn't help but take a picture of him. Dan and I thought it would be fun to take a picture of him and us doing the "Silly Face". And here it is...

Cucaracha!!!

I saw and FELT my first cochroach at 5:00 this morning! He scurried across my hand while I was sleeping, IN MY BED!, and woke me up. I woke up Dan yelling "Dan, Dan, dan...I think I felt a cochroach! Oh my gosh! It is looking right at me!" It was on our headboard. Dan turned on the light and the bug fled! I made Dan get up and look around the house and the bedroom to try to find it. He couldn't find it. After work today Dan and I went to the Home Depot and bought bug spray and roach motels. I even called our Club house and they are coming over to our apartment on Wednesday to spray. I then came back from the store and was passing by the bathroom when I spotted him! (or her) . He was on the floor checking stuff out! ICK! Dan got him for me! MY HERO! He was about 1 1/2 inches big! Funny thing is, the paper underneath says "I love you Dan". I had made that earlier to test out our new printer! What a fitting sentiment!

School Starts!

Here is Dan coming home from school. He is taking anatomy and select topics this semester. He really likes the anatomy class and is having a lot of fun in the lab. We've been able to go to a picnic and potluck with Dan's class mates. They are all very nice! Also we were able to get residency for tuition! This means that we will pay 12,000.00 less in tuition! Yeah Unitedhealth Care!

I am currently working for UnitedHealth care and am really enjoying it. They require a 6 week training to go over procedures and benefits like SelectHealth did. Unfortunatley, they delayed the training for a month! There was suppose to be 4 people in our training class but they didn't hire one and the other didn't pass the background check. There is just Kristi and I! It is fun though to have a small class. Our trainer is really cool and makes it fun. That is important especially being in an classroom for 8 hours!

We are adapting to the weather here in Las Vegas. It has been in the 80's the past couple of days. When we moved in the temperature was 103! Definatley not the worse temp in Las Vegas but hot enough for us Utah and Idahoan's! We really appreciated all the help we recieved with the move!

I went to Taylor and Madison's Dance Competition in Logan, Utah. They did so good! I am so proud of the young women they are becoming!

Lindsay and I celebrated our 22nd Birthday! It was so much fun. We went shopping with my parents. My dad even came! Then we went to Cafe Rio for lunch, it was so good! Then Dan took me to The Mandarin in Bountiful. That was really good! We went over to Lindsay and Jeff's house for the birthday party. Jeff and Dan know how to

UNLV IT IS!!

Dan and I recieved the greatest news on Thursday. Dan recieved an email from UNLV and asked him to join the PT program there! He of course accepted it and school will start for him on June 1st. We are so excited to be moving but we will miss all our family and friends!

Interview at Creighton!

We got a letter from Creighton last week inviting Dan to interview on March 20th! We are so excited. I don't think I will be able to go with Dan this time but, I will be cheering him on. Creighton is in Omaha Nebraska. Kyle Korver (The hottest guy on the Utah Jazz) played there. We are so excited!

Dan's Interview at UNLV

Dan had his Physical Therapy interview with UNLV on Jan. 20th. He was so excited. We had an interview party for Dan the Sunday before the interview. He was such a good sport and let his family and my family ask him interview questions. He did so good! His inteview lasted 5 hours! Lauren was really nice to let me come over to her house and hang with them while we waited. When I came to pick up Dan, his face was full of excitement! I was shocked to find out that they were going to send an email this weekend to let us know. We went back to the hotel room to hook up our computer but they only had dial up! Travis and Lauren let us borrow their computer but we didn't get the email until we got home anyways. Dan place #6 on the alternate list. They said in previous years they have taken 5 to 14 people off of the alternate list. Plus, Dan was picked number 36 out of 480 applicants! That is so great. I am so proud of Dan and what an amazing husband he is.
